PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy is an innovative and exhilarating, non-surgical method of regenerative medicine to encourage and promote natural hair growth. The main purpose of using PRP in hair restoration is to arouse inactive or recently implanted hair follicles into an active growth phase. As PRP consists of many development factors necessary for hair growth, such as Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF) and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), it is also known as 'Vampire' or 'Dracula' therapy; as it engages procedures like taking of blood from the patient's own body, which is then processed and then re-injected directly back into patient's scalp. SkinMedics Clinic has introduced this revolutionary and innovative, non-surgical hair restoration therapy for the first time in this part of India.

How does PRP work?

Existing facts show that PRP therapy is a promising treatment option to promote hair growth and hair restoration.

PRP comprises of special cells called Platelets that lead growth of hair follicles by stimulating and facilitating the stem cells located in the dermal papilla and other structures of the hair follicles. The main reason for using PRP in hair restoration is to stimulate immobile or freshly entrenched hair follicles into an active developmental phase. The therapy assures 'Better and Faster' growth of the hair.

Procedure

PRP hair therapy is a very simple, and a half-an-hour procedure and one can resume one’s daily routine work immediately after the therapy.

  • First blood is drawn from the patient’s vein.
  • The blood is then processed and centrifuged and PRP is separated from the rest of the blood.
  • Lastly PRP is injected into the scalp, by the use of tropical anesthesia.

Research shows that, unlike other treatments of tendons and ligaments, stimulation of hair re-growth need plasma with a much higher concentration of platelets for successful and flourishing results. Here at SkinMedics clinic, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi the patient’s blood platelets are concentrated to the highest concentration level.

PRP therapy can be repeated every 1-2 months and for upto 3-4 sittings are enough to get an excellent successful outcome. Though some patients may need some bit of maintenance therapy, depending upon the severity of hair loss problem.

Who can take PRP Therapy?

PRP therapy works best in patients with disseminated and defused thinning and miniaturized hair and is also effective in case of both men and women.

This therapy can be combined with other hair treatment therapies like hair transplant both pre-operatively or post-operatively. It not only provides healthier and quicker growth of transplanted hair, but also stimulates growth of the existing thinning hair simultaneously.

PRP is also very helpful in Female pattern hair loss. PRP therapy is considered to be an effective alternative to hair transplant surgery.
